Yesterday, I returned from a 3 week trip to the UK. I flew from Wellington to Sydney, Sydney to Singapore and then Singapore to London and then did the same trip in reverse to get back home! Without kids…. and without my husband. So how was it?
Just like a lot of Mum’s out there, I am the primary caregiver for my kids. You can only imagine how I felt to be embarking on a 3 week trip to Australia and the UK on my own!
One of my closest friends has just been to stay with her six-year old twins. Her husband is a Winemaker, and she quite often comes to stay during vintage (grape harvest). My husband used to be a Winemaker, and so I used to be a ‘vintage widow’… you’ll find plenty of empathy here!
I love my boys, but I often wonder why I was blessed with two of them and no girls. Maybe it’s because I am a tomboy at heart, or maybe it’s because I’ve always got on better with boys, or maybe it’s just because I think farts are funny…? So what makes boys…. well er boys, why are they are so exhausting and why do we love them?
This was the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO) and it was to be a ‘family concert’, plus my lovely friend Chris Lam Sam was presenting and narrating. I read the info and it said the show was 50-minutes. Chris is a fantastic children’s presenter and musician, and I am keen that the kids get exposure to all different kinds of music. I thought it was worth a try and bought the tickets. Find out how we got on!
These guys are so damn cute. We’ve had them nearly a week now. One is black and white and the other is tabby and white. However, I think bringing these two little monkeys into my house when it’s already a whirlwind may have been a little bit mental!

Angus was a great cat. A ginger and white tom with heaps of personality. My husband fell for him and bought him on Valentines Day, 8 years ago. Sadly, he didn’t make it to Valentine’s Day this year. This is how our family dealt with losing our beloved pet.
